Some things that could be added for magic desktop

Hello there!

Magic Desktop is great. I am the computer manager over at a daycare center and I use this program for the computers. By far one of the best programs out there to use! I just thought about some things that could be added to magic desktop.

Automatic Updating - When updating magic desktop, that's having to go on each computer, uninstall magic desktop, get the latest version from the site and reinstall it. And I have to do that for 5 computers. Which is pain taking. What would be great is if magic desktop would have a built in updating feature. And can be toggled on one of these cicumstances:

• If the child has just started the computer and magic desktop is running
• If the child has shut down the computer or is going to restart it and magic desktop updates right before it shuts down/restarts
• If a parent goes into parental controls, types in the master password, and updates the program manually.

It can also be set through the options. This could be a great feature!

Also, what about allowing more programs to be added besides install-only programs. (Just so you know I am a teenager and my brother is a little one). I am also in charge of magic desktop for my brother's computer. I was going to put Minecraft on magic desktop but it wasn't there. Also for the daycare computers, I can't put games such as pinball or angry birds. I can, however, put in the games, that were included with windows or have been installed. If this could be added that would be great. :)

Some other features, such as the ability to change the magic coin price of each game, restrict the time of when a program can be launched or even restrict the use of the computer! Restrict programs, more screensavers. That would be great for magic desktop.

  I agree!

  To reiterate some of the items you mention from my point of view:

  - Earn coins using apps other than Ge Academy: I didn't realize until after purchasing (my fault, yes), that coins couldn't be earned using other applications. This is big for me.

  - Duration of play by game restrictions: I would also like to be able to restrict not only time of day, but duration of applications which can be played.

  - I second the price to play each game, big too!

  All great suggestions. Any response on which of these may already be in the product road map?

  We are glad to let you know that new Magic Desktop 9 has just been released!
  It includes many new programs and features, improved user interface and enhanced learning experience.

  We have also included some of the features you requested:
  - different magic coin price for programs
  - advanced time restriction settings for each program and the whole computer
  
  The Updating service is also in the road map and will be available later this year.

  We hope you will like product improvements!

  Sounds good.  Where can we get the list of new features and changes in v9?

  How do we upgrade to v9?

  One more change I would like to suggest:  when adding an adding book entry in magic mail, it would be nice to be able to add it to all kid's address books at one time.  Or give us the ability to copy address book entries from one kid to another.  (After entering details for parents, grandparents, cousins, etc, in one address book it is frustrating to need to do it all again for each additional kid...)

  Would love to get an answer if there will be a way to upgrade to v9 without losing all the customizations we've done for our kids in v8.

  Hi Ron,

  Sorry for the late response!
  We are still considering a migration tool for MD8 users updating to MD9, for now - there is no way to upgrade. Fresh install only. And as I mentioned before - the next version of Magic Desktop will include the updater service.

  As for the list of changes - there will be a series of posts on Facebook covering new major features of Magic Desktop 9.

  Regarding your request for address book entries import - have added this feature request to the road map.

  Any news on that updater?  I upgraded to MD9 in April but still cannot use it because I don't want my kids to lose all their email, etc.
